“Learning occurs best in an environment of order, equality, respect, and inspiration.” SHS Core Values, Beliefs, and Learning Expectations
The Spaulding High School Library and Learning Space staff are dedicated to ensuring our students’, educators’, and school community’s intellectual freedom, as well as their ability to have access to the relevant and up-to-date information, media, and technology that will be necessary in the 21st Century world. We also believe that as part of the Spaulding community it is our responsibility to support our school’s mission and “meet the needs of all students; enabling them to become respectful, responsible, knowledgeable, confident, healthy, and ethical global citizens.” We will do this by: 1. Supporting and advocating individual and group inquiry. 2. Supporting our student’s transferable skills such as persistence, collaboration, and effort. 3. Providing educator support through professional materials, co-teaching, and variable teaching methods in order to engage our students’ literacy and digital media skills. 4. Through our diverse collection of fiction and nonfiction, we will foster a culture of learning, literacy, empathy, and curiosity. As a learning community, it is our duty to provide the types of services that will enable our students to become global citizens in an ever-changing world.
